February Frenzy: Celebrating the Best Month of the Year!

February is here, and we're feeling festive! Not only is it the shortest month of the year, but it's also my birth month (along with some other pretty awesome people). So, in honor of this special time, we're dedicating this newsletter to all things February!

February Fun Facts:

• Shortest Month: February is the only month with fewer than 30 days. It usually has 28, but every four years, we get a bonus day with a leap year.
• Leap Year Logic: Why the extra day? It's all about keeping our calendar in sync with the Earth's orbit around the sun. It takes approximately 365.24 days for the Earth to complete one orbit, so that extra quarter of a day adds up over time. Leap years help us account for this discrepancy and keep our seasons aligned.
• February's Origins: The month is named after the Roman festival of purification called Februa, which took place this time of year.

In the United States and Canada, February is Black History Month. It's a time to honor the achievements and contributions of Black people throughout history and to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.

• Origins: Black History Month originated in the United States in 1926 as "Negro History Week," chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. It expanded to a full month in 1976.
